This blog is dedicated to documenting the casualties occurring during the ongoing Farmers' Protest in India in 2024. This marks the second list of deaths resulting from the protests, which have been met with violent and harsh responses from the state. The protesters have rallied under the banner of "Dilli Chalo" to voice their grievances against the government's failure to fully address their demands following the dissolution of the previous Farmers' Protest in 2021.
The initial dissolution of the protest led to the repeal of contentious farm laws, but many other issues outlined in the resolution remained unaddressed. Amidst the backdrop of a post-COVID world, the current protest encompasses new demands, including “legal assurances of a minimum support price (MSP) to safeguard the farming community, relief in the form of farm loan waivers, and a reversal of policies perceived as detrimental to farmers' interests”(Al Jazeera.
